Here’s some of the projects I’ve worked on:
OpenAustralia.org is a non-partisan website run by a group of volunteers which aims to make it easy for people to keep tabs on their representatives in Parliament.
I’ve helped with almost all aspects of the project from writing code, helping run the mailing list and responding to the public’s emails to assisting with the systems administration of the server and running hackfests.
PlanningAlerts.org.au is another OpenAustralia Foundation project which emails you details of planning and development applications near you.
I’ve helped out with code, bugs and I wrote the Marrickville Council, Parramatta City Council and Warringah Council scrapers.
Election leaflets are one of the main weapons in the fight for votes in Australia. They are targeted, effective and sometimes very bitter. The goal of ElectionLeaflets.org.au is to collect as many of these as possible from around the country.
I was lucky enough to be one of the small group of volunteers that adapted the code from our awesome sister site The Straight Choice in just 10 days, in time for the 2010 Federal election.
I created OpenAustralia DevLive, which is a prebuilt development appliance that allows you to download a ready-to-run OpenAustralia development server. No server setup, no dependencies, no worries – just download and start hacking.
Tim ‘mithro’ Ansell and I created OpenAustralia Labs, a site to host some of OpenAustralia.org’s more crazy experiments, or just things that aren’t quite ready for prime-time.
I added Stephen Bartlett’s Words in Parliament to OpenAustralia Labs, modifying it to work on Heroku.

oa4wp is an adaption of Philip John’s TheyWorkForYou WordPress plugin that allows you to display recent speeches by your representative from OpenAustralia.org on your WordPress blog. You can find instructions of how to install it on your blog in a post by Philip.
